General Information For quite some time, passengers in wheelchairs have been forced to make accommodations in their calls for efficient accessible transportation. That time has finally come to an end. Today, Wheelchair Accessible Transit offers a citywide taxi service that caters to the needs of its passengers, from pick-up to drop-off and everywhere in between. And it hasn’t taken long for prospective clients to realize that there’s a better way to satisfy their day-to-day travel demands. Our taxi service is flexible, our drivers are attentive and our vehicles are fitted with top of the line comfort and safety features. Included below is some basic information about our services and our fleet. For additional details, including pricing information, please feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience.
Our Services While we continue to expand our service in the interest of meeting the increasing demand, taxi reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. For this reason, we recommend that our clients provide sufficient notice when booking an accessible taxi. This is an on demand service and prices have been arranged to be charged at a starting price of $20 anywhere in Toronto. This price is not for pre-booked orders and does not include additional wheelchair after the first. It also does not include stopping in between the runs. These are all additional charges should they be required. This new price structure will entail a new service not offered anywhere in Toronto. This service is ideally suited for any number of personal transportation needs, including: - Daily citywide travel
- Multiple destinations
- Airport pick-up and drop-off
Our Vehicles Our fleet of accessible taxis includes a number of different models, but some features remain constant. All of our vehicles are tidy, distinguishable and spacious, able to accommodate both walk-ons and baggage. Furthermore, all of our accessible taxis offer: - Accommodation for up to 2 wheelchairs
- Dual entry for ease of boarding and disembarking
- Low access floors for convenience and comfort
Ride in Comfort While we strive for convenience and efficiency in our accessible taxi service, we also believe that all passengers deserve a certain level of comfort when they travel. To this end, our clients can expect their taxi to arrive in pristine fashion and equipped with: - AM/FM Radio (optional CD player)
- Heating and air conditioning for climate control
- Tinted windows for enhanced privacy
Committed to Safety At Wheelchair Accessible Transit, the safety of our passengers is our number one priority. For this reason, we are constantly updating our fleet to ensure the complete security of every person that rides in one of our vehicles. Clients can also rest assured that all of our accessible taxis are: - Compatible with CSA-D409 requirements
- Made subject to a rigorous maintenance program
- Equipped with a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, seat belt cutters and flares
- Equipped with a two way radio and GPS monitoring system
- Drivers are certifies with first aid and CPR training
- Car seat or booster seat at request of customer (at time of booking)
